KAUKAUNA — Kaukauna schools financial officer Bob Schafer rescinded
his resignation Monday at a Board of Education meeting.

School Supt. Lloyd McCabe said before the meeting that board members
wanted to retain Schafer by matching the salary he was offered by the
Oshkosh Area School District.

Schafer's salary in 2007-08 is $80,200, among the lowest salaries for
a business manager in the Fox Valley, McCabe said.

The position in Oshkosh paid $96,650 in 2007.

Salaries for comparable positions at neighboring school districts
ranged from about $86,700 at Little Chute to $128,000 at Neenah.

McCabe said the board will set up a meeting to discuss Schafer's salary.

The district had announced last week that Schafer, who has handled
Kaukauna's finances for the past year, would leave at the end of
October.

Schafer lives in Oshkosh.
