UNDATED—Wisconsin educators are especially glad to see their students today.
It's the third Friday in September. And, by state law, it's the
official day for counting attendance at schools that receive public
funding.

More students? More money.

At Milwaukee public schools with attendance problems, they are a
variety of ways to get students in the door today.

Pancake breakfasts, fancy lunches, pizza parties and even movie
tickets are part of the drive to boost attendance -- and state
funding.
