CEDARBURG - School district teachers can concentrate on their
classrooms and the school board on other matters now that the two
sides have settled the teachers' employment contract in near-record
time.

It is the first voluntary contract the teachers have had since the
2001-03 school years.
"It was unexpected, but we're all very pleased," said Webster
Transitional School band teach-er Pam Harrison, who is the chief
negotiator for the district's estimated 200 teachers.
Under the terms of the contract, which covers the 2007-08 and 2008-09
school years, teachers will receive a 5 percent increase in their
total salary and compensation package.
They also will retain their current insurance provider, Wisconsin
Education Association Trust, but with a very different plan.
